This is a charming medieval town set between the great cities of Pisa and Florence,most famous as the birthplace of Leonardo De Vinci. The town is dominated by the Castello dei Guido, named after the feudal family who lorded it over this town and its surround until Florence took control in the 13th century.Inside the castle nowadays is the Museao Leonardiano which contains an intriguing set of more than 50 models, based on Leonardos far sighted designs. Down below the castle is a further privately owned museum of lesser interest the 'Museo Ideale Leonardo De Vinci'.The little hill town of Vinci has changed very little since Leonardos time with still many stone houses clustered around the castle. The tall church bell tower is an important landmark and can be seen for miles around.
