Lying on the western side of Gozo is Gharb one of the oldest and prettiest of Gozo's villages. The charming hamlet is known for the ornately carved, stone balconies that decorate many of the houses. This quiet village offers the tranquility and peacefulness that only Gozo can offer. It is dramatically surrounded by hills and edged with cliffs. The humble village is adorned with legends passed through generations .The village is serviced by three mini-markets, the biggest one being in the main square.
A small pub is on the same main road that leads to the square. This opens every day except on Mondays where apart from beverages one can even have a pizza or pasta lunch or dinner at very reasonable prices.
For that quiet candle light dinner one can visit one of three restaurants: “Ta'Titas” where well presented traditional Mediterranean cuisine is offered. This is at St Lawrence main square, the neighbouring village to Gharb. Another restaurant is on “Frence tal-Gharb”street. Again this serves traditional Gozitan dishes and yet another popular family restaurant is “Jeffreys” which is right at the beginning of the village on the way to Victoria. The town of Victoria is only a 10-minute drive away where there are banks (ATMS), chemists, butchers, major super-market, boutiques, cinemas, and the famous Citadel. It is also only 2km from the breathtaking Inland Sea and Azure Window.
The nearest beach is in Marsalforn Bay and is within a 20minute drive from Gharb.
