This is a typical Mallorcan townhouse in Pollenca\'s maze of narrow streets. The house is full of character and has been restored in the tradition of Pollenca\'s Arabic past, where houses provided an escape from the noise and heat of street life. Casa Lleo is a peaceful retreat with an extremely relaxing terraced garden and pool, and yet it\'s just a short walk from all the cafes, bars, restaurants and shops of the town.
Location
Casa Lleo is a lovely townhouse, full of character. It's just a few minutes' walk from here to Pollenca's main square, and the beaches of Puerto Pollenca are just a ten-minute drive away. Casa Lleo is not unfortunately easily accessible because of the several stepped levels in the gardens and terraces.
Layout
Inside
This is a three-storey house which has been restored in elegant traditional style with white walls, beamed ceilings and terracotta-tiled floors. It's also fully air-conditioned so is cool even on the hottest summer day. It's built next to the hillside just a minutes' walk from the the bottom of Pollenca's famous Calvari - a punishing but rewarding flight of 365 steps - which according to tradition, climbing just once will absolve a year's worth of sins. On the ground floor of the house the lounge and dining room has satellite television and a dvd player and cd stereo. The bright and sunny kitchen has appliances including a dishwasher, an oven and ceramic hob, and a fridge-freezer. A door opens out from the kitchen onto the stone staircase that climbs through the different levels of terracing in the garden. There is also a cloakroom on the ground floor. The three air-conditioned bedrooms are on the first floor. There's a double bedroom with an en-suite shower bathroom, and two twin bedrooms that share a bathroom with a bath and a shower.
Outside
The top floor of the house is taken up by the beautifully designed sun terrace and pool, which has sweeping views over the rooftops of houses in the old town. There's a patio area here with seats and sun loungers, and a covered built-in barbecue area. The pool also has a waterfall and so this is an incredibly peaceful place to sit in the evenings listening to the sound of the water and looking down onto the town below. The many twists and turns of this secret garden are delightful.
