Just 18 km from Bodrum, Gundogan is one of the least known but most delightful holiday resorts on the peninsula, and makes for a wonderful spot to enjoy a villa holiday in Turkey. The village itself is small and peaceful. The water, is crystal clear, and just a couple of steps from your sunbed you can plunge into the warmth of the Aegean.
Spend the day on the beach, having hot corn for lunch and an evening meal of locally caught fish in one of the speciality restaurants built on jetties at the water’s edge. Wander into the village and you will find traditional restaurants where you can enjoy favourites such as lentil soup, lamacun, pide , durum and of course kebab. There is a post office with ATM machine, and a reasonable selection of shops.
Nature lovers may appreciate the chance to join a guided trekking group to explore the surrounding countryside. A visit by boat to the nearby 'Apostol' Island with its ruined, but romantic, Byzantine church is always a delight.
